Description or Purpose | Achieving high organics adoption is all about providing convenience. For some spaces, the conventional Kitchen Caddies are just too large. This 5 Litre Compact Caddy retains all our usual features. There is no sacrifice on the opening width for plate scraping, and it cleverly retains the educational advantages of the in-mould label. However, with the new thin design, the Compact Caddy cleverly optimises space. If you can fit a cereal box in your cupboards, you can pack away this caddy, making it perfect for MUDS, lifestyle and retirement villages. In corporate spaces, the sleeker design fits more neatly in kitchenettes behind the sink, or next to the coffee machine to collect tea leaves and coffee grinds. This Compact Kitchen Caddy is specifically designed, printed and manufactured in Australia, for Australian families. Reflecting our team’s commitment to the circular economy, the unit is manufactured from at least 80% Post-Consumer Recycled Content, usually collected from the contents of council roadside collection bins. |
Operating Principles | In Australia, approximately half of household waste is organic. As such, a successful council organics diversion program can have a significant impact in reducing community landfill rates, however the key to success is convenience and education. This Compact 5 Litre Kitchen Caddy builds upon the proven success of our previous conventional caddy, however the modified body shape cleverly optimised space. Importantly the unit fits our range of 8 Litre Compost-A-Pak®Liners, both the flat top and singlet designs. This unit also retains the educational advantages of in-mould label. In a longer landscape design, a full colour label is inserted into the caddy lid during manufacture. As a result, educational messages are embedded as a reminder for users every time they divert their food waste. The unit features a single sturdy carry handle, and lockable, snap fitting lid, which flips back to create a full opening for plate scraping. There is a rear mounting tab, so the unit can be attached to a wall or under-sink door, hanging on screws. The venting channels build into the base design makes it much easier to remove the liner and waste. Our standard unit is made with at least 80% Post Consumer Recycled Content. We regularly work with Councils on unique FOGO designs, with a range of custom-coloured caddies available to be manufactured in Australia from up to 100% Post-Consumer Recycled Content. |
Additional Information | The unit can be customised to meet your needs. Simply call one of our Waste Diversion Experts to learn more on 0249 537 644. |

Approvals Related to Use of Output
Important Note on Composting in NSW
In NSW, applying waste to land – including a processed waste such as compost - or using it as a fuel may trigger various regulatory requirements. Depending on the proposed use you may be required to comply with a Resource Recovery Exemption or need to hold an environment protection licence, and pay the waste levy.
While there is a Compost Exemption (2014) it is important to note that drying or dehydrating food waste, or any other compostable waste, is specifically excluded from consideration under this exemption. Drying or dehydrating equipment uses externally supplied energy to heat and ventilate food waste or any other compostable waste in order to rapidly dry the waste material over a short time period (typically 24 to 48 hours), either with or without the addition of an inoculum. If you are interested in this type of equipment you should refer to the resource recovery exemptions for information on lawful use of outputs.
If it is intended to use the material as a fuel, it must comply with the NSW Energy from Waste Policy Statement. http://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/waste/140056enfromwasteps.htm
